Volo City organizes adults and kids leagues in seven cities with more than 175,000 members nationwide. For every adult that plays, a kid plays for free through the Volo City Kids
Foundation. In 2016 Volo City moved its offices to City Garage and declared Baltimore as its national headquarters location.
Derived from the Italian word “to fly,” volo represents the organization’s mission to uplift communities, boost relationships and heighten the culture our cities. As Volo City continues to expand, it plans to add fitness and wellness classes, nutrition programs and highly competitive performance leagues to its offerings in the near future.
“Volo City is much more than just sports and social play–we are a movement, connecting people in a meaningful way with a focus on wellness,” states Giovanni Marcantoni, CEO of Volo City. “We’re exciting for this new phase of the organization and proud to make Baltimore City our home base as we continue to expand nationally.”
According to The Sage Policy Group economic analysis report, the Volo City Baltimore City operation supported approximately $8.1 million in economic impact in 2016 and is estimated to exceed $20 million by 2019. Adult player participants reached 35,000 in 2016 and will nearly double by 2019. In addition, Volo City will contribute $200,000 in state and city taxes this year.
“Providing the opportunity for our youth to have fun and be active through quality programs is critical to the success of our city,” said Councilman Brandon Scott. “This is why I partnered with Volo City to start the kids leagues and continue to be a coach today. I see first-hand the difference of connecting caring adult volunteers with the kids makes in their lives.”
Volo City Kids Foundation offers programs for youth ages 6 to 12, providing opportunities for children to learn, practice and play sports in a fun, structured environment. Connecting adult players and volunteers to children throughout the city is a pillar of the “purpose” component of the Volo City brand. The program offers a free meal at every league play and a variety of sports such as football, volleyball, soccer and sailing.
