Basic Basketball Rules

Men’s 4 v 4

  • Minimum 3 to play
  • 20 minutes per half

  • 1 timeout per half (does not carry over)
  • Clock DOES NOT stop in the 1st half
  • Clock stops in the 2nd half in the last 2 minutes ONLY if a team is losing by 10 or less

NCAA RULES

5 v 5 CoEd

  • Minimum 3 to play (1 must be a girl)
  • Max 3 guys on the floor at the same time
  • 20 minutes per half

  • 1 timeout per half (does not carry over)
  • Clock DOES NOT stop in the 1st half
  • Clock stops in the 2nd half in the last 2 minutes ONLY if a team is losing by 10 or less

Women’s 5 v 5

  • Minimum 3 to play
  • 20 minutes per half
  • 1 timeout per half (does not carry over)
  • Clock DOES NOT stop in the 1st half
  • Clock stops in the 2nd half in the last 2 minutes ONLY if a team is losing by 10 or less

NCAA RULES 
- NO DUNKING

Forfeit:

  • If a team does not have the minimum number of players within 10 minutes of the designated start time, the team will forfeit

Scoring:

  • If a team leads by more than 10 points at any point during the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half, the remainder of the game will be played as running time.
    • If this lead becomes 10 points or below, the game will return to stopped time
  • No overtime during regular-season games – games can end in a tie
    • 1 minute of overtime (if necessary) for playoff games

 

Fouls and Free Throws
:

  • A player will be disqualified for his second technical foul
  • Any unsportsmanlike or flagrant foul will result in 2 free throws, automatic ejection, and loss of possession
  • All free throws take place on the 7th team foul
    • Straight to the double bonus shooting two free throws

Substitutions:

  • May be made following the whistle, but ONLY after the substitute has been “waived in” by an official

**All teams make the playoffs at the end of the season (unless you forfeit 2x)**

  • If you must remove your mask please do so only on a dead ball and you must be at least 6 feet away from other players and refs
  • Blatant Offense
    • 1st Offense – Technical Foul
    • 2nd Offense. – Technical Foul; Ejection
  • Non Blatant Offense
    • 1st Offense – Warning
    • 2nd Offense – Technical Foul
    • 3rd Offense – Technical Foul; Ejection
